KARPER CREATIVES SCHOLARSHIP
Supporting tomorrow’s music makers, today.
The Karper Creatives Scholarship, named for its founder Dakota Karper, is made possible through the support of the Cacapon Music and Dance Foundation. This scholarship is dedicated to empowering young musicians and enriching lives through the transformative power of music in Hampshire County and surrounding areas.
Open to first-time applicants in grades 3–10, the scholarship provides robust support for musical growth. Previous recipients are welcome to reapply at the end of each 30-week term, with continued participation until age 18.
Recipients receive:
30 weeks of private, 1-on-1 music lessons with a professional instructor on the instrument of their choice
12 monthly group band classes
A personal instrument to keep after successful completion (as needed)
Performance opportunities in up to two student recitals each year
Access to a vibrant, supportive musical community through group workshops, field trips, and special events
Expectations include:
Weekly attendance at private lessons at The Cat and The Fiddle (Capon Bridge, WV)
Participate actively in a musical community throughout the course of the scholarship (Examples: band, jams, concerts, open mics, recitals, workshops, fieldtrips)
Commitment to practicing at least 1hr 20min per week (about 20min daily)
